Grant Request Process


Welcome to the West Davis & Bergard website. We distribute annual individual Grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. We limit our Grantees to those with operations in Alameda and West Contra Costa County. However you can have a main address out of this area as long as there is an active location within Alameda and West Contra Costa Counties.

Please submit all Grant Requests on line using our Grant Request page. Grants are automatically received by the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee reviews all requests and will contact the grant submitter for further information if necessary. For new Grantees, the process can take longer as the Advisory Committee will usually set up a short face to face meeting with any new grantees. This meeting benefits not only the Foundation but also the Grantee. We can gain a better understanding of your organization by meeting with you.

After further assessment by the Advisory Committee, their report and recommendations are then submitted to the Board for further review and approval. Please note, the Board cannot not always approve the amount originally requested by each Grantee.

NOTE: The Board meets every quarter (March, June, September and December). We ask that any Grant Request be submitted by the 15th of the prior month. For example: for the March Board meeting please submit your Grant Request by February 15th. This time frame gives the Advisory Committee the additional time needed before any Board Meeting.

Once a Grant is approved, notification is sent to each Grantee with our check and letter acknowledging your receipt. Upon receipt, we ask that this signed acknowledgement letter be returned immediately to our office.

Six months from receipt of your receipt of our Grant check, we require a Grant Report confirming how the funds were used. Please refer to our Grant Reporting Process for further details. Failure to submit a timely Report my affect consideration for future grants.
